Your Discipleship Manual

"For many years now, I have been concerned that I have not had material readily available to give to young Christians who want to know their way around the religious maze that they have found themselves in upon getting saved from a life of sin. This concern has been heightened as the Lord has been pleased to give fruit to the ministries/departments of our church in terms of a fairly good number of fresh conversions. I have wanted something to place in their hands that would act as a guide as they found their way in their new life in Christ.

"I have looked at my bookshelf and found that the books I have there were either too "heavy" for an average young Christian today or they only dealt with one area of the Christian life (e.g. assurance of salvation). Yet, what I have wanted is the kind of book that a young Christian could read and find the entire orbit of the Christian life described in small compass. There were times when I thought I came across something that approximated what I wanted but I would find that it left out what I would consider important (e.g. Christian doctrine), because it was inter-denominational.

"Finally, I decided to put aside the excuse of being too busy to do the spadework myself and, with the encouragement of my fellow church elders and neighbouring pastors, I came up with a curriculum. We called upon a church meeting where we asked the members, "Looking back in your Christian pilgrimage, what is it that you wish you had been taught when you just became a Christian, which perhaps you learnt later after many wasted years?" The answers that were given by the church helped to further shape and refine the curriculum that makes up the chapters of this book." Some of the topics covered in this discipleship manual are: Assurance of salvation, Nurturing a culture of reading, Christian doctrine, Personal devotions, Personal evangelism, Christian friendship, Church commitment, and Godliness. The book also has an appendix that explains how to use this manual to disciple others
