Wu Jingzi

Wu Jingzi (1701-1754) was one of the greatest novelists in ancient China. He was born in a scholarly family with 'the family''s voice is always beautiful'. He was intelligent and eager to learn when he was a child; he was uninhibited when he was a teenager, wasted his family wealth and 'passed down in the countryside to become a negative teaching material for children'; he participated in the imperial examination many times, but failed and gradually understood the shortcomings and nature of the eight-legged scholars; he moved to Nanjing, refused to take examinations and impoverished, and devoted himself to the creation of The Scholars; He traveled and died in Yangzhou, fulfilling the prophecy that 'people should die in Yangzhou'.
