World population monitoring 2001

This edition focuses on issues relating to population, environment and development issues. It contains chapters on: the evolution of the international debate regarding these topics at UN conferences over the last three decades; policy developments by various governments regarding the impact of environmental problems and sustainable development; the ways in which population size, growth and distribution is linked to environmental issues, in both rural and urban settings; and the evidence from various studies on the impact of environmental factors on health, mortality and fertility.
