One can never look at the Midlands in the same way ever again. They both thrived through innovation, perspiration, painful mutation and an all-conquering resolve to be first again and again. 'Second' was not in their vocabulary. Second was for cissies - it was simply not in their psyche. Winning was everything. Rules and regulations bent in the breeze, conformity discarded. 'It can't be done' was banned, because when the going got tough, the tough got going.

The rewards were amazing; a string of racehorses, multiple properties, top of the range motors and exotic holidays. What really floated their boat though, was pure and simple empire-building. They both loved nothing more than watching an acorn growing into a great oak tree, because with that came all the rewards.
