Who Cares if Police Become Violent?: A Commentary on Preventing Police Brutality

The purpose of this commentary is to examine the social and cultural factors that are associated with police officers and law enforcement continuing to engage in brutality. To prevent law enforcement personnel from engaging in brutality against citizens, and even believing that they will not be punished for such actions, it is necessary to understand how the culture of the United States creates an atmosphere in which police believe violence against citizens is appropriate.
