When You Know

Pete is almost eighty, and when his wife is suddenly killed in a tragic accident he thinks that's it for him-he'll be alone for the rest of his life. Out of kindness and necessity he takes in Mary, a neighbor who's become injured and can't manage the stairs in her house for a couple of weeks. He's noticed her walking on the beach, talking to herself and gesturing wildly, and thinks she may be rather batty so he's none too enthusiastic about having her for a temporary roommate. But as he gets to know her better he realizes how deceptive appearances can be...and how wrong he was to think love was done with him.
