When We Were Kings

When We Were Kings follows siblings Ty and Malani Lee, who discover their grandfather Edward "Pop Pop" Lee's hidden time machine. Pop Pop, a retired astrophysicist, was commissioned to build the machine years ago but kept it secret to prevent misuse. During a weekend stay, Ty and Malani unlock its secrets and embark on thrilling journeys through time. They meet significant figures from black history, including King Tutankhamun, Mansa Musa, and the Agojie Women Warriors. Each adventure enriches their understanding of their heritage and instills pride. However, their travels attract the attention of Thomas Fitzgerald, who originally commissioned the time machine and is determined to claim it for himself. This leads to a tense confrontation, where Ty and Malani must protect their family and the time machine.
