What the Hell is...?

We are living today in a stupid, stupid world - a world where the people in charge are reckless, feckless, and unconcerned about the outcomes of decisions; a world where dissent is increasingly suppressed, debate and deliberation are increasingly rare; a world where loyalty and conformity are rewarded, and innovation and progress are discouraged.

This is a result of rising Functional Stupidity - a social condition where actions and decisions are made for the worst of reasons, bringing harm to all parties. Functional Stupidity has always been with us, as the text clarifies, but is now openly on the march - leading us down a dark and dangerous path.

Herein are some explanations and examples to bring focus to this problem, along with some hopeful thoughts about what we can do about it.
