When the system arrived everything was turned on its head. The rich and powerful now had no more of an advantage than the poor and the powerless. They all had to fight to survive. The system wants soldiers not artists and it mocked his gentle nature right from the start.

Owain was a painter, a husband and a father living a quiet life in rural North Wales. His only worries were selling his paintings and dealing with the teenage dramas of his oldest children.

When the golden letters appeared in front of his eyes he knew he would have to change. Permanently transformed into a half-man half-tiger he has to prepare to face the waves of monsters the system will send at his loved ones. First he needs convince his wife to stop shooting him on sight, then he needs to decide how much of his humanity he is willing to lose so his family can survive.

This is a side story set in the Carnival universe and provides a full backstory for characters that will feature in Book Three of the main arc, due for release December 2024. This is a stand alone story, you don't need to read the main books to enjoy this story and likewise you won't need to have read this to understand the characters when they appear in Carnival later on. This story is slightly darker in tone than the main arc but it is focussed on humour and strong characters.
