Adoption is one of the key metaphors in Scripture for becoming a Christian. John 1:12 tells us that those who believe in Jesus have the "right to be called children of God." But rights are of no value unless they are exercised. Many Christians have yet to fully embrace their rights as the children of God. Many believe that it only becomes a reality when we go to Heaven. Yet the Bible clearly teaches that we belong to Christ in this life, and living in His family brings blessings on Earth.

To experience life as God's child, we have to stop living in our identity as orphans of sin and choose to dwell in the house of the Lord.
