The wailing could be heard in the background by the 911 operator. The neighbor was informed to stay inside and keep all doors and windows locked. Moments later, the home in question was surrounded by police officers with weapons drawn. Struggling to get Eric to release his wife's body from his arms proved to be a challenge for the officers. Eric held Joann's body tightly in his arms with his face buried in her neck. Eric was incoherent and beside himself with raw emotions. The decision was made to taser Eric into submission. After being tasered, Pastor Eric Montgomery was pulled apart from his wife, abruptly handcuffed and carted off to jail for questioning.
