Using Math in Sports

Sports are more than just decisions being made on the move. Coaches must determine a strategy that takes into account the strengths and weaknesses of each team based on statistics and matchups. And athletes must constantly evaluate how to be successful based on their knowledge of the opponent in front of them in that moment. Following fifth grade Common Core standards, this book takes a look at how athletes, coaches, and fans use different types of math to create a holistic plan for play and engagement, while helping readers understand how to evaluate the gambles of sports.
