Unsinkable

Born on the Adriatic Sea in the small village of Stikovica in Communist Yugoslavia just before World War II, Visko Njiric's world was rocked and his life forever changed when the Nazi army invaded his village and commandeered his home, leaving the family homeless and penniless, and depending on their resourcefulness and the wits of Visko and other village children to survive. Just after the devastation of the war, seven-year-old Visko had an encounter with American sailors that made him decide even at that tender age that someday, somehow he would go to America.
