Under the Pale Moon

Gabby is a little girl who loves to ride BMX bikes. She is seven years old and speaks using only a few words and signs. She has a strong personality, a great smile, and has an aptitude for computers and math. Despite her difficulties with communication, she carves out space for herself with her BMX skills.Her father is an aerospace engineer who helps her customize and soup up her bike. He loves her dearly and makes sure she's happy.

One day, after beating the neighborhood kids in a race, Gabby comes across a tall ramp they all suspect was built by the respected and reviled teenagers. She speeds up the ramp and flies into the air, but her bike twists, and she crashes the landing.

Determined to get the jump right, she sneaks out after bedtime and tries the jump again. She presses the button to activate what she thinks are dud rockets. Unbeknownst to her, her dad installed experimental mini-aerospike engines on her bike. She takes off into the night and ends up parashooting down into the big city: a strange land of burgers, boys, and even more biking.

There, she meets Beans, sarcastic charming and full of jokes, and his brother Gino, who also struggles with his words.

Together, they adventure around town, getting in and out of trouble, eating tasty snacks, and doing sick bike tricks.

But how is Gabby going to get home? She can't exactly fly. They plan a heist involving borrowing a beloved old car and driving to the suburbs, but Little Reggie wants that car (it's not his-he just wants it) and gives chase. He's a mean little guy, and he's determined to stop them.

Can Gabby make it home and back into bed without her parents knowing? Or will her midnight ventures with Beans and Gino end in disaster?
