These poems and images of the family of the physician-author, professor of Neurology at the University of Minnesota, describe his patriotic commitment, struggles and experiences defining his identity and that of his extended family in the cold Minnesota diaspora. The poems, some in English, in addition to offering a portrait of the soul of the author, explore many other topics related to the events of his island of Puerto Rico, and to international events affecting life in their communities. His anguish of seeing the Puerto Rican homeland cornered by economic events, the gentrification of the island, the loss of the power of the Puerto Ricans before a foreign Junta, the great migration and the flight of health professionals after hurricane Maria are the most heartbreaking themes of his new poetic work that promotes the return to the island and political-cultural-linguistic independence for the survival of a nation and genuine ethnicity, rich in culture and traditions, threatened with assimilation by the colonization forces and historical circumstances of the moment.
