Uighur (Uyghur) is a Turkic language with almost 9 million native speakers, the majority residing in the Uyghur Autonomous Region of Xinjiang in western China. It is also spoken in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, with smaller communities of Uighur speakers in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Turkey.
