Les onze essais de ce troisieme volume consacre a l'emotion au theatre cherchent dans le texte dramatique et ses prolongements spectaculaires les sources et modalites de l'impact thymique que le critique est en droit de presumer chez le spectateur des pieces etudiees. Meme lorsque demeure pose l'epineux probleme des interactions entre texte dramatique et texte spectaculaire, ils proposent des lumieres originales sur themes et elements formels ou s'enracinent les affects, dans des pieces qui vont du theatre -medieval- a celui des elisabethains.
