Trust

In an age where spaceships traverse the sky like their water-borne brethren of ages past, humanity lives in fear. Ghouls live in the dark and await the time the human race drops its guard. Spacefaring society lies locked in a cold war with the Ghouls, dreading the time they attack and wipe out humanity. This is not a story about that war. The crew of the spaceship Descent is on a mission it thinks is an average case of data retrieval. The hull of the Moreau hides things more sinister: human experimentation and cross breeding with the inhuman. Among the carnage cowers a child. Dr. Risa Magee doesn't know what she's getting into when she takes this child under her wing. His cat ears and tail have marked him for death. Her own life will be put at risk when she defends the boy she names June. Her heart, however, may find healing from a tragedy in her past.
