Travels with Pete

In 1972, Krissy Rohver accepts a teaching job in Sydney, Australia. When a chance meeting in a Tasmanian hostel sparks a romance with another American, Pete Fischer, neither knows if they'll ever see each other again.

Fate, unexpectedly, brings them together in New Zealand where they realize they're making plans for a lifetime. Immediately after their marriage a year later, they put on backpacks and head overland from Australia home to the US.

Their year-long journey by foot, ferries, planes, trains, and rickshaws takes them thousands of miles from Asian jungles to Himalayan trails. Encountering danger, illness, laughter, and endless uncertainty, the young couple learns to rely on each other, their wits, and the kindness of strangers.
