From urbane New Yorkers and rural chicken farmers, to murderous councilmen, desperate housewives and back-biting bridge buddies-encounters range from loving and hopeful to dark and vicious. Each reflects its place in time (1996-2019) with inflection points like September 11th, the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, the elections of Obama and Trump.Many of the characters brush elbows in different stories, resurfacing at later stages of their lives, for better or worse. While the stories often explore controversial issues and serious conflicts, humor is always an essential ingredient.
