Time for Change

A collection of twelve inspirational, provocative and insightful essays by prominent Australians on a wide range of topics including an Australian republic, the refugee issue, higher education reform, environmental sustainability and an Australian bill of rights. The theme of the book is 'positive change', and the essays provide viable alternatives to the status quo, encouraging readers to work, in their daily lives, towards the creation of a fairer and more sustainable Australia for the future. Contributors include Natasha Stott Despoja on higher education; Julian Burnside on refugees; Helen Caldicott on nuclear power; Pat O'Shane on Indigenous Australians; Julia Gillard on healthcare; Carmen Lawrence on women's issues; Michael Kirby on dissent and Mike Rann on the environment. Proceeds from the book will be donated to Oxfam Community Aid Abroad.
