In book two of the series, Sam Harkins knows something is terribly wrong. Back in his home time, everything should be fine. He's engaged to Avey Riley, the great-granddaughter of Ruth, the girl he loved in depression-era Seattle and his research is nearly complete, but One d j vu incident after another gives him nightmares. Meanwhile, the timkers Vili and Julijana desperately try to patch together the shredded fabric of time as sinister forces plot to alter history. When Sam suddenly is tossed back in time to 1934, and Avey awakens in rural Virginia in 1861, they know someone or something is keeping them apart, controlling time, space, humanity's future, and their happiness.
