A tale of illicit passion and brutal revenge. No one is what they seem.

When a mysterious woman arrives in a French village to live in an old house with secrets of its own, tongues begin to wag. The village priest is intrigued by the newcomer, who finds herself drawn into helping the villagers make a commemorative tapestry to be hung in the church. Meanwhile, on the far side of the world, an immigrant ice cream seller in Canada reads that a former business associate has disappeared, and he knows the hunt is on. Soon, hidden events from long ago intrude upon the lives of the stranger, the priest and others in the village, forcing each of them to reveal the secrets of the past and make difficult choices about the future.
