Beskrivelse

The St John Ambulance Brigade in the SA War 1899-1902 covers recruitment, service in South Africa, Stationary Hospitals, Hospital Ships, casualties and the different medals awarded. Born in 1954 Simon Jonathan Eyre MA BM BCh FRCP(Lond) FRCGP was brought up in Petts Wood. An Uncle's collection to the Scots Guards first interested him in medals but it was not until 2004 that this interest was rekindled. Since then he has written extensively including five medal related books. At University he studied Medicine at Peterhouse Cambridge and Merton College Oxford before qualifying as a Doctor in 1979. Most of his professional life was spent in General Practice in Eastbourne but he has also lived and worked in both Kenya and Uganda. Simon is married to Ann and they have four children and twelve grandchildren. He is a Fellow of both the Royal College of General Practitioners and the Royal College of Physicians. He is a member of the Church of England's General Synod.
