Beskrivelse
Up until now, if you wanted to know something about Henry Harmon Spalding or his children, information was largely limited to their missionary work with Marcus Whitman at the Whitman Mission, about the Whitman Massacre, or about his daughter, Eliza, who at the age of 10 was held captive after the massacre. After spending time doing genealogy type research, and looking for facts, I am able to share with the reader what happened to these people after the Spalding Mission hurriedly closed down after the massacre. Henry Harmon Spalding may have been the most successful missionary in the Northwest, but the story of the Whitman Massacre overshadows that story. Where did they go? What did the children grow up to be and where did everyone live? Who knew these people from our past had full and rewarding lives?
