The Packed Moon

...An old immigrant writer dies in New York. Three suitcases from his archive remain. By force of circumstances, the archive ends up in the possession of a grandson, a Harvard graduate who speaks and reads Russian fluently. By sorting through papers and photographs, the grandson seems to be trying on his grandfather's life. A bright human destiny appears before him - with troubles, discoveries, losses, suffering, love, betrayals, sorrows, losses, gains. You have to unravel secrets, mysteries, look into the innermost corners of the soul, answer yourself a question that your grandfather will no longer answer: is what he strived for higher than what he fought against?



The war in Ukraine fits organically into the narrative narrative told on behalf of the grandson: he is involved in the events caused by Russian aggression, and participates in the rescue of a Kiev woman, the granddaughter of his grandfather's close friend. And an unexpected ending... All this gives the novel acute relevance.



...В Нью-Йорке умирает старый писатель-иммигрант. Остаются три чемодана его архива. Волей обстоятельств архив попадает к внуку, выпускнику Гарварда, свободно говорящему и читающему по-русски. Разбирая бумаги и фотографии, внук как бы примеряет на себя жизнь деда. Предстоит разгадать секреты, тайны, заглянуть в сокровенные уголки души, ответить самому себе на вопрос, на который дед уже не ответит выше ли то, к чему он стремился, чем то, с чем боролся?



Органичным образом в канву повествования, ведущегося от имени внука, вписывается война в Украине он вовлечён в события, вызванные агрессией России, участвует в спасении киевлянки - внучки близкой подруги деда. И неожиданная развязка...
