Beskrivelse
THE MYSTERY OF THE MONKEY'S HAND, a One-Act Play by Gavin Bantock, based on a Short Story by W.W. Jacobs
A spine-chilling horror story re-cast as a terrifying one-act drama in three scenes.
On a stormy night, an old sea-captain pays a visit to the White family, and shows them the dried-up hand of a monkey, which he says has magical properties: whoever owns the hand can make three wishes, and they will all come true.
Mr. White asks the captain to let him have it. The captain warns him that the hand has curse on it, leading to tragic results.
Later, Mr. White is persuaded to make a wish - for two thousand pounds to pay off the mortgage on their house.
The next morning a Mr. Sampson visits them to report that their son Herbert, who has a night-job at an electrical company, has been fatally electrocuted. He hands Sampson an envelope containing a condolence gift - of two thousand pounds.
Grief-stricken, Mrs. White begs her husband to make a second wish - for Herbert to be brought back to life. Soon afterwards, there is a thunderous knocking at the door, under which they can see a horrific red glow of fire and swirling smoke, so White is forced to make a third wish...
