Beskrivelse

Fayne is one of the bonedressers of the Mortuary, immortal and tasked with showing kindness to the dead by adorning their bones in carvings and dried flowers. At the brink of their very first job without their mentor, they vow to make it a masterpiece-but their creative approach to the carvings instead wakes the bones' spirit, a result both unexpected and horribly unkind.

Enair, the spirit, comes with three things: an offer to show Fayne what life was like, appealing both to their curiosity and their guilt; a deep-set anger for the Mortuary and its practices; and a story long told and retold, about a Door that once stood to offer communication and passage between the living and the dead. A door once promised to be kept open, by the first builders of the Mortuary. A door which Fayne has never been told about at all.
