The Minneapolis Poet

Bruce Ario (1955 - 2022) was THE Minneapolis Poet. Plagued by mental ills, addictions, TBI, and homelessness, Ario spent the last four decades of his life in service to others: his city, his church, and his art. Ario invented and mastered the ario poem; a deceptively simple 3-3-3-1 stanzaic form as a vers libre counterpoint to the English sonnet. The Selected Poems was edited by his literary executor who introduces both Ario and his poetic world, while arguing Ario's case as one of the greatest poets in world literature.
