The Mike Men of Trinidad and Tobago

In Trinidad and Tobago, there is a community of music lovers known as the MIKE MEN. They are enthusiastic, dedicated roving public address system owners who operate a sound system consisting of a pair of funnel-type loudspeakers, strapped onto the hood of a motorcar. These men function at East Indian weddings, cooking nights and other assemblies. Their systems, which are still popular in some quarters today, are still used to make public announcements of various kinds including deaths, upcoming events, and store sales. This book details the life and times of this cultish group of men in Trinidad.
