Laramie Mackenzie has always had a sense of responsibility when it comes to helping out her family. Pushing her own dream onto the back burner where it's left to simmer, she's more than ready when her call comes, bringing with it a mate who just might hold the key to her future.

Trigger Bain is a mountain lion shifter raised among humans. He has no idea what life should be like aside from what the mating call is all about. He's worked his entire adult life helping mountain lion shifter communities become the best they can and is just as determined to help Long Claw, the home of his mate.

Mates should claim one another right away to avoid the mating haze. A fog that can consume the couple, taking possession of them until they are carrying each other's mark and it doesn't matter when and where it hits. But there's something underlying with Trigger's arrival that the haze does well to cloud from Laramie's eyes. Truths will be learned, secrets revealed, and their fledgling relationship tested to a limit Laramie hoped would never happen to her like it did her mom.
