When pediatric intensivist Dr. Nekaiya Jacobs Pratt, named Advocate Health 2024 Diversity Champion of the Year, founded the Curly Hair Council, she transformed hospital experiences for countless children. What began as bringing hair care supplies from home for patients with textured hair blossomed into a program serving hospitals across six states. Her initiative demonstrated how cultural inclusivity creates healing spaces. Now she brings that same vision to young readers.
