Beskrivelse
This paper deals with the Hungarian Holocaust and the attitude of the Vatican and the Pope with regard to this drama. The history of the Hungarian Holocaust is especially relevant because it's a good example of the response of Pius XII to the deportations and the mass murders that were generally known in that stage of the war. Dirk Verhofstadt examines several telegrams that were sent to the Vatican asking the Pope to intervene. That Pius XII remained silent for a long time and refused to protest publicly is not only incomprehensible from a humanitarian point of view, but also reprehensible.
