After days on a difficult journey, at last Virgilius reaches the summit of Myanmar's mountains. Now he gazes at the monastery's gate, standing outside its walls, he is utterly paralysed by the fear of making the most important decision of his life! Will he be brave enough to step forward and accomplish his mission?

The traumatic events during his teenage years made him a bitter man, whose life was on an unstable path, and eternally running off from the unscrupulous Valentina. Even being miles away, she remains silently concealed in the gloomy corner of his mind; and that is her ultimate revenge. For his own sanity, he must keep moving.

He thought deep in his heart that he would never get to the peak, climbing was the most thrilling part of the travel; the setbacks, the fallings and lacerations, the frustrations and disappointments, the fears and the uncertainties were just the propellants that prevented him from quitting; until the last minute, the last breath.

When arrested, he is sent to the most dreadful place in the country, and in there he finds his true brotherhood - not joining the powerful and ruthless gang that rules the institution with an iron fist, but joining the purgatory, the section where the lowest rank of destitute prisoners is left. They are short in resources and energy, but it is where the comradeship lives. For them, moving ahead one inch a day is progress, each day alive is a good reason for celebration, and to witness one more night is a triumph, every breath is a victory.
