Beskrivelse

1810: Nottingham, England. The Luddite rebellion reaches its height. Industry marches into the town, removing job security for the masses. Taking advantage of the struggling lower classes, the wealthy make their move, taking the land they require with a common goal in mind. City status will be theirs within a decade. Taxes will rise, land prices will increase, and their investments will pay.

A festering conspiracy.

As the town grows, politics collide with the common classes. Purging the town of the poor, the wealth devide increases.

Corrupt law enforcement brings innocent men, women, and children to court, accused of false crimes. Their sentence will remove them from society and life. George Smith follows God's law, inflicting punishment on the guilty, 'hanging them good and proper.'

A wakening of catastrophic proportions.

Danger mounts when George discovers many of those on his rope are innocent, his faith in justice wavers, man corrupts the courts, and the only one who can save the innocent is the one duty-bound to execute them. Unable to turn his back on his task, George knows he must fight for the innocent, for justice, and for his life.

With his own family to protect, can he save the innocent and remain a free man himself? It is a tale only the hangman can tell.

George Smith takes centre stage in this ominous telling of an 1800s Nottingham hangman. Part one of the completed Grim Nottingham series.
