1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

در ابتدا کلمه بود، و کلمه نزد خدا بود، و کلمه خدا بود۔

1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.

در ابتدا نزد خدا نیز همین بود۔

1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

همه چیز به وسیله او آفریده شد؛ و بدون او چیزی از موجودات وجود نیافت۔

1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

در او حیات بود؛ و آن حیات، نور آدمیان بود۔

1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

و نور در تاریکی می]درخشد؛ و تاریکی آن را درنیافت۔

1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

مردی از جانب خدا فرستاده شده بود که نامش یحیی بود۔

1:7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

او برای شهادت آمد، برای شهادت بر نور، تا همه مردم به واسطه او ایمان آورند۔

1:8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

او آن نور نبود، بلکه فرستاده شد تا بر آن نور شهادت دهد۔
