The Descent of the Tzaddik

A lonely young man in Poland hundreds of years ago, living in a traditional Jewish shtetl, yearns for a deeper connection with his Creator and an escape from his mundane life.  He studies the esoteric wisdom of the mystical kabbalah, and then uses that knowledge to vault his soul out of his body on a magical journey to the World to Come and the Heavenly Court.  And when his soul returns to his body, he is blessed with marvelous new powers - powers that can ease suffering and bring joy to thousands.  He becomes the tzaddik of his own Hasidic court, with disciples, pilgrims, and opportunists surrounding him and seeking his miracle-working blessings.  But his powers and his fame will, in turn, bring new temptations, doubts, and scandals.

The Descent of the Tzaddik is an exploration of the borderlines between faith and doubt, holiness and sin, and good and evil.
