Beskrivelse
In this deeply personal work, a retired pastor reaches across the span of his life to re-examine beliefs he had always held to be true. Growing up in the southern coal fields of West Virginia, Charles Wilson knew people of color, but even after a group of African America boys saved his life one day, he didn't question why they went to a different school or lived in a different neighborhood. Schools integrated, of course; but the neighborhoods, not so much.
Now retired, Rev. Wilson has taken a step back and looked at what he really believes about not just people of color, but those who speak, believe, and love differently than then he. Charles weaves stories, memories, relationships, poetry, and his beloved King James Bible into a book that is sometimes funny, always self-reflecting, and deeply transformative. As he looks back across his life, he invites the reader on a journey from ignorance and fear to love and acceptance. His deep evangelical faith has not waivered, but he has fallen again in love with God.
