Beskrivelse
Warren Green quits his tech job in California and moves to a cabin in the forest, just outside of Flagstaff, Arizona. He struggles with writing a novel, and his own demons, depression and anxiety. His only relief comes from drinking wine, walking in the woods, or hanging out at the local bookstore. One day, while at the bookstore, he meets and falls in love with Gail who teaches writing. This begins a romance he will do anything to maintain.
He also frequents Pluto's bar and grill where he makes friends with a few bikers, and Sara, the pretty tattooed bartender. She tells Warren that her best friend, a young woman scientist, disappeared from the cabin he's renting. But after months of searching, the police can't find her.
When a body is discovered in a desolate place near the Grand Canyon, the FBI is brought in. They interview Sara who suspects that her boyfriend, a park ranger, may be involved. They also interview the bikers from Pluto's whom they suspect. When they interview Warren, he tells them about two people in a black SUV that have come around looking for the missing woman. They insist there is something in the cabin of theirs. But he also tells the FBI there may be a clue to her murder that only he can decipher.
Eventually, Warren untangles a riddle that leads to the arrest of the murderers. But there are complications and Warren could be charged with a crime. With the help of the bookstore woman, Gail, he digs his way out of trouble. But the story doesn't end there. He still needs to solidify his relationship with her and finish his novel, before it's too late.
