The Beautiful Girls of Piazza Armerina

What do the beautiful girls of Piazza Armerina want? Ida is the daughter of the boss don Nunzio, and Claudia her best friend. They are studying Classics and love the Greek poets, particularly Sappho, who fills their hearts with longing. But there are obligations for every Sicilian girl, which means boys such as Francesco, the stepson of don Calogero di Rienzi, and Paoluzzu the handsome manager of the Trattoria Norma on the road to the Roman Villa. For sons and for daughters, compromises and sacrifices have to be made. Only the boss's eldest son, Renato, entering maturity, seems not to understand this, which will have terrible consequences for Francesco and Renato himself.
