Beskrivelse
The memoir of W.M. Wagner, an enlisted man in the First Confederate Cavalry Regiment (Tennessee) during the American Civil War. Wagner's account covers his boyhood in Hardin County, Tennessee, the early war years on the homefront, his enlistment and service in John Bell Hood's command. Beyond his eyewitness account of a tragic period in American history, Wagner also fills in a major gap in his regiment's service. During the Reconstruction era, Wagner relates the violence and his own immigration to Texas. An excellent account of a tumultuous time.
