The Almost One

Every day is like a ticking time bomb.

For every blissful moment in the sun, the universe punishes me with unforgiving darkness.

I'm so close to the truth yet the obstacles keep piling up, the deaths keep destroying us and I'm afraid one of us will eventually succumb to this cruelty.

The secrets, the lies, the deceptions are all part of my husband's world, but the moment I chose to walk beside him, they became part of my world too. If only he would let me all the way in.

I want my forever one to be my best friend, my confidant in all things, but there is a missing puzzle piece I'm determined to find.

I just hope I can handle it when the time comes.
