Natalia has grown up in the oppressed sectors of Araedia, avoiding the brainwashed soldiers of the tyrannical President Vayne Averie. Vayne rules the sectors with fear and suppression as he searches for Elementals-individuals who can harness the power of one of the four elements-and most of all, the Aether ... the ultimate Elemental prophesied to either utterly destroy or save Araedia by wielding all the elements.

With her last elemental assessment looming, Natalia can only pray that she and her closest friends, Damien and Aurum, won't end up as pawns in Vayne's army. But when they encounter a group of rebels-led by Vayne's mysterious son, Roman-they're thrust into the middle of a war they might not be able to win. As Natalia and Roman grow closer, her old bonds are tested and she's forced to face an uncertain future.
