Technology, the Economy, and Jobs

This book concentrates on the role of technology and economic theory in government policy in promoting economic development and jobs. A conceptual framework was developed to organize and explore linkages between theory and policy. The elements making up the framework include "technological change", "economic theories", "forces influencing change", and "policy decisions". These framework elements were researched in the regions of Northern England and Scotland to see how the role of technology, in the process of economic change was articulated in the policy process of those regions to deal with structural change and job loss. The book also contains a bibliography, a comprehensive index, and endnote references.
