A Friend's Family Crisis May Soon Become Your Own

During January's wintry weather, retired widow and amateur sleuth Gwen Andrews hopes for an exciting event to banish her post-holiday doldrums. But being pulled into Gazette reporter Shirley Knapp's family crisis isn't quite the distraction Gwen had in mind.

The morning after the family's black sheep barges into his grandparents' home, Shirley finds cousin Hank bleeding on the snow-laden front yard with a knife in his back. When surgery fails to save his life, a less than competent police sergeant suspects Shirley of stabbing Hank. Aware of Gwen's prior sleuthing successes, Shirley enlists her to seek out the real villain.

Enter retired detective Ben Snowcrest who once again teams up with Gwen to solve the case... his capacity official, with her working behind the scenes. As they chase each clue, their relationship deepens. Will Gwen finally move beyond her husband's death and open her heart to Ben?
