Comson Cryso never imagined that her decision to seek sanctuary beneath the boughs of Nikko Mori would result in her meeting a curious pair of siblings- Tristan and Arianna. After Tristan aids Cryso in thwarting her pursuers, the pair learn that they may not be as different from each other as they first appear. 



Since their mother's passing, Tristan has worked hard to raise and protect his sister Arianna and to fill his sister's days with happiness and love. Cryso's arrival breaks the quiet in the siblings' lives. In the wake appears the sprightly Captain Isabella and her crew who bring more friendship- and more foreboding. Guided to the pair by the threads of fate, Captain warns of coming dangers from the surrounding kingdoms and the threat of Tristan's own father. Tristan and Cryso soon realize that the best way to protect Arianna may lie beyond the borders of the siblings' forest home.



When Captain is captured after an encounter with the infamous StormShaper, Cryso and Tristan work with her crew to mount a rescue. Traveling across the kingdom of Nocis, the newly formed group races Captain's captors to the king to save her from execution while the shadows of Tristan's past loom around them. During the journey, similarities and familiarities come to light, revealing Cryso and Tristan's intertwining destinies with Captain.



With ever-present dangers, the group must learn to trust each other and themselves. Can they grow together in adversity? Or will they choke in the thorns of their own darkness?
