The use of medicines without medical supervision or abandoning treatment at the first signs of improvement are among the main causes of bacterial proliferation. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), if the use of antibiotics is not strictly controlled, the population could be left with no defence against the bacteria that cause infections. These common practices of incorrect antibiotic use strengthen the bacteria, putting not only the patient but the entire population at risk, making the antibiotics available on the market ineffective.
