Summer of '59

The summer of 1959 was the kind that left you breathless. Lilith, Nate, and Janet were living for the moment, trying to hold onto those last traces of childhood before college crept up.

That's how it felt, at least. Because college was change, college meant taking on the responsibility of adulthood. But right now, they wanted nothing more than to soak up the sweet freedom of youth. They danced, watched bands play, went to the movies, and drank milkshakes every summer, and this one would be no different.

And then everything changed...

At The Cool Cat Cafe, Lilith met Darren, a sleek, dangerous-looking boy in leather with slicked-back black hair and intoxicating brown eyes. When she slipped and fell into his arms, it was like nothing she had ever experienced. And though Lilith knew that her father would never approve of someone like Darren, she couldn't help but be drawn to him.

Darren, the lead singer and guitar player of The Cadillacs, was the kind of boy who gave you butterflies in your stomach. He made Lilith smile and laugh, weakening her to her knees just by looking at her. Even though her father forbade her from seeing him, Lilith refused to let anyone come between them. But when a record contract comes into the picture, everything changes.

Lilith's summer of firsts becomes a summer of heartbreak as she experiences her first real kiss, first love, and first taste of loss.
