Stasis

At the end of the 21st century, the Earth lay devastated. Industrial pollution, overpopulation and climate change had left large areas uninhabitable. Bitter wars were fought for control of scarce resources, destroying entire countries and killing most of the global population. To save the human race, the United Nations gathered the remaining people into Safehouses, giant domed refuges where everyone was placed into a state of suspended animation, watched over by groups of clones called Caretakers and computerized robots called Artificials.
