Beskrivelse

SOME CAME HOME picks up where William Williamson's fifth novel SOME CAME TOGETHER concluded. Florida Keys Novelist Henry Roberts finds himself once again not only apart from the love of his life and the lifeline of his being, but miles away from home, parked down a midnight St. Augustine logging road committing an act of betrayal. Not against Finee, his Cuban fianc?e, waiting for Henry to return to her in Matecumbe but another woman that Henry has loved even longer than Finee. His mother.

Henry's out of his elements in Northeast Florida hoping to complete a trifecta of promised obligations putting the bones of the past behind him while honoring his responsibilities to what's left of his family before turning around and heading back to Matecumbe to start on a new novel and life with Finee. He has promised his mother he would bring the ashes of her dead son, Corky, to her Saturday, then he intends to confront her about the lies she's told Henry over Corky's paternity, visit his brother in the state mental hospital before picking up his cousin, Roberto who is getting out of prison and take him back to his old childhood haunts in Key West where it all seems to begin. Instead, Saturday's sunset has come and gone, it's already a pitch-black smoking Sunday morning and all Henry is bringing to his mother is his own urn of lies.

All Henry wants is to return to his crib and his vocation as a struggling writer living simply on a small island sharing a naked morning together for the rest of his life with Finee, who is now pregnant possibly with twins. But a gifted writer before Henry's time has postulated you can't go home again and that bone of contention gnaws at his very conscious as he navigates the turbulent water on land from one end of Florida to the very end of the line, back to Key West. Knowing where his only safe harbor really awaits him. Back home in Matecumbe, to the siren charms of Finee. The only woman he has coveted since he first became entranced in the alluring mysteries of women.

And Henry is acutely aware of what stands in front of him. His family. His mother, his brother, Roberto and of course there's always Jake, his father whose waiting on a million-dollar coke deal to go down so he can buy Florida Keys real estate and retire in Key West. Mile Marker Zero. The very place that Finee has christened Henry's harshest mistress.
